RECAP restores Sri Lanka's ecosystems and strengthens community resilience to a changing climate.
Through large-scale reforestation, mangrove restoration and coastal biodiversity work, RECAP protects the natural systems that shield communities from floods, erosion and extreme heat - with young volunteers leading every planting and monitoring cycle.

What is the RECAP programme?
RECAP (Restoration of ecosystems & climate action) is one of nine flagship programmes run by Save a Life, a youth-led nonprofit founded in Jaffna, Sri Lanka in 2014. Reforestation, mangrove restoration and coastal biodiversity conservation.
What activities does RECAP carry out?
RECAP focuses on mangrove restoration, reforestation drives, coastal biodiversity and youth conservation clubs. In practice this means: community-led mangrove nursery and restoration cycles; reforestation drives on degraded and public land; coastal biodiversity monitoring with fisher communities; youth conservation clubs in schools and universities; climate awareness and advocacy campaigns.

180,000+ trees & mangroves planted, 120+ hectares under restoration, 45 youth conservation clubs.
Where does RECAP work?
Save a Life is headquartered at No. 460, Navalar Road, Jaffna, and delivers RECAP with communities across Sri Lanka. Our youth volunteers work alongside community leaders, schools, universities and local partners so that every activity responds to real local needs.
