Programme overview
RESCUE is our emergency response and disaster recovery programme, activated when floods, drought, storms or other crises strike.
Trained volunteer teams deliver first-aid, evacuation support and emergency shelter within hours, then stay on for the slower work of recovery - restoring homes, livelihoods and services.

What is the RESCUE programme?
RESCUE (Emergency response & disaster recovery) is one of nine flagship programmes run by Save a Life, a youth-led nonprofit founded in Jaffna, Sri Lanka in 2014. Flood, drought and disaster response - first-aid, shelter and long-term recovery.
What activities does RESCUE carry out?
RESCUE focuses on disaster early warning, first-aid & rescue teams, emergency shelter and long-term recovery support. In practice this means: community early-warning and preparedness planning; volunteer first-aid and rescue team training; emergency shelter, water and relief distribution; post-disaster damage assessment with local authorities; long-term recovery and rebuilding support.

25 districts with response capacity, 600+ trained response volunteers, 40+ emergency responses led.
Where does RESCUE work?
Save a Life is headquartered at No. 460, Navalar Road, Jaffna, and delivers RESCUE with communities across Sri Lanka. Our youth volunteers work alongside community leaders, schools, universities and local partners so that every activity responds to real local needs.
